What this silence remover does

Most “silence remover” tools only look at volume. This one transcribes the file, so a quiet word is not treated as a gap, and a long pause after a sentence is. You set how long a pause can be. Anything longer is cut, including the breath right before it. That is the same control as the homepage tool — this page is for people who came here to strip dead air, not to hunt for filler-word settings.

Video and audio, same pass

An MP4 talking-head clip and an MP3 voice memo both work. For video, the picture stays in the browser while a small audio track is transcribed. For audio-only files, Save writes an M4A. If you also want um, uh, and you know gone, leave filler detection on — it runs in the same pass, so you are not running two apps.

Built for talking-head video, not only a WAV

A lot of silence removers only take a WAV and look at volume. That is fine for a voice memo. A YouTube-style talking-head clip usually also needs ums cut, and a preview that skips the gaps without re-encoding first. Preview here plays the original file and jumps over cuts. How do I remove silence from audio without Audacity?

Will it cut quiet speech?

It uses word timings from speech-to-text, not a raw noise gate. Soft words that were transcribed stay unless you cut them yourself. Gaps with no words are what the slider targets.

Can I keep some pauses?

Yes. Increase the silence threshold so shorter gaps remain. You can also click a silence chip in the transcript to keep a specific pause.
