What this silence remover does
Most silence removers only look at volume. This one transcribes the file, so a quiet word is not treated as a gap, and a long pause after a sentence is. You set how long a pause can be. Anything longer is cut, including the breath right before it.
That is the same control as the homepage tool. This page is for people who arrived to strip dead air, not to hunt for filler-word settings. Leave filler detection on if you also want um and you know gone in the same pass.
Video and audio, same pass
An MP4 talking-head clip and an MP3 voice memo both work. For video, the picture stays in the browser while a small audio track is transcribed. For audio-only files, Save writes an M4A.
You are not running two apps: fillers and silence are marked together. Preview plays the original file and jumps over cuts. You only wait on encode if you click Save.
How to set the slider
Start around a half second. Play the preview. If answers sound clipped, raise the threshold so short breaths stay. If you still hear three-second stalls between sentences, lower it.
Click a silence chip in the transcript to keep a specific pause — a joke beat, a name you want to land, a moment you meant to leave empty. The slider is a default, not a lock.

When Audacity or TimeBolt is still better
Use Audacity’s Truncate Silence on hour-long mixdowns, plugin chains, and sample-accurate edits. Use TimeBolt or Gling when you need XML into Premiere. This tab will run out of memory on that work.
Use this page for a 6-minute lesson, a voiceover, or a YouTube take you already framed. Dead air and ums, reviewed as words, downloaded as a file.
