How preview can be instant

Most editors re-encode before you can hear a cut. This page does not. After Process, the player keeps the original file and seeks over removed ranges. That is why you can restore an um with a click and hear the result immediately.

You wait on a full encode only if you click Save. Encoding uses your CPU and WebAssembly. Chromium-based browsers handle that path best. Clips longer than ~10 minutes are processed in silence-aware chunks for transcription and Save; very large files may still run out of browser memory.

When to use something else

Stay in Descript, Premiere, CapCut, or a DAW when you need Overdub, a mix, color, templates, or a 40-minute timeline. This site will not host your RSS, generate a host voice, or hand you XML. It is the filler-and-silence pass for a file you already have.

If you mainly want studio-sound processing, Adobe Podcast Enhance is a different job: it does not delete um. If you mainly want Truncate Silence in Audacity, you are gating volume, not words. Use this tab when um is a token you want to review, not a dip in a waveform.

Chromium-based browsers are the reliable path. Longer clips are split into ~10 minute silence-aware chunks; files around 100 MB+ may still hit browser memory limits. There is no account, no API key, and no minutes meter. Click any marked word to keep it. Raise the silence slider if short breaths should stay.
