What gets cut besides “um”
The detector flags um, uh, uhh, umm, er, ah, eh, uhm, erm, and close variants. It also flags phrases such as you know and I mean, and it treats like as a filler only when it is not a real verb or comparison (“I like this” stays).
That is more than a search-and-replace on a captions file. Cuts follow word start and end times, including the pause in front of the um, so you do not leave a hole of dead air where the stall was.
Compared with CapCut, Premiere, and Descript
CapCut’s identify-filler-words pass and Premiere’s ripple deletes work, but they live inside an editor you install or subscribe to. Descript’s dedicated “remove um from video” page is the right shape: one job, one URL.

Keep the ums that are doing work
Sometimes an um is a beat, not a mistake. After Process, every flagged word is clickable. Restore the ones that belong in the performance. If the detector missed a stall, open the word and cut it.
Preview skips the cuts immediately. You are not waiting on an export to hear whether the line still sounds like you.

A simple um-cutting workflow
Export a talking-head take from your camera or screen recorder. Drop it here, press Process, then listen once with all marks on. Restore any um that is a character beat. Save, then put the file back into CapCut or Premiere if you still need captions style or color.
If the take is longer than about 10 minutes, split it first. Browser memory is the ceiling, not a paywall.
Files, limits, and what this will not do
This page will not mix music, reframe for TikTok, or write XML for Premiere. It marks um, uh, and hedge phrases on a transcript, lets you restore any mark, and encodes locally if you want a file.
Drop an MP4, MOV, or WebM under about 100 MB or 10 minutes. Picture never uploads. Only audio is sent for timings. If the take is longer, split it. If you still need CapCut captions or Premiere color, do that after you save.
