Um & uh cutter

Remove um from video. Uh too.

Drop an MP4, MOV, or WebM. Um, uh, er, and similar sounds are marked on the transcript. Click any one to keep it. Audio is sent for timings; the picture stays here.

What gets cut besides “um”

The detector flags um, uh, uhh, umm, er, ah, eh, uhm, erm, and close variants. It also flags phrases such as you know and I mean, and it treats “like” as a filler only when it is not a real verb or comparison (“I like this” stays). That is more than a search-and-replace on the captions file: cuts follow word start and end times, including the pause in front of the um.

Compared with CapCut, Premiere, and Descript

CapCut’s “identify filler words” and Premiere’s manual ripple deletes work, but they live inside an editor you have to install or subscribe to. Descript ranks for “remove um from video” with a dedicated tool page, which is the right shape — one job, one URL. This page is the same idea without an account: process in the tab, keep what you want, download if you need a file. It will not replace a full NLE. It will take the ums out of a 6-minute talking-head clip.

Keep the ums that are doing work

Sometimes an um is a beat, not a mistake. After Process, every flagged word is clickable. Restore the ones that belong in the performance. If the detector missed a stall, open the word and cut it. The preview skips the cuts immediately; you are not waiting on an export to hear the result.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I remove ums from a video for free?

Open this page, drop the file, and press Process. Ums, uhs, and similar sounds are marked. Preview plays the clip with those ranges skipped. Save when you want an MP4 written on your computer. No sign-up.

Does it remove uh as well as um?

Yes. Uh, um, er, ah, and several spellings of each are treated as filler sounds. You can restore any of them from the transcript.

Can I remove um from audio only?

Yes. Drop an MP3. The flow is the same. Save outputs M4A. For a page aimed at podcasts, see remove filler words from audio.

Will it cut the word “um” inside another word?

No. It matches whole tokens from the transcript, not substrings. A name or a word that only contains those letters is not treated as a filler.
